Ronald Boy Presents Staff Expression Policy to BISD

On Thursday, September 10, 2026, the Bainbridge Island School District board reviewed the second reading of Policy 5254 Staff Expression. Associate Superintendent Ronald Boy presented the policy, which addresses employee speech, including off-duty conduct. The policy states, "Although the overall purpose of Policy 5254 is to address speech that occurs as a result of an employee's employment, it also includes language intended to provide staff with notice that off-duty speech may also be subject to discipline". The board also approved a $11,134.28 donation to BHS Volleyball from BHS Volleyball Boosters, plus other donations to Woodward Choir and Sakai Intermediate School.
