Kim Knight Presents Preliminary BISD Budget

The Bainbridge Island School District board reviewed the preliminary 2026-2027 budget on July 30. CFO Kim Knight presented the budget to Superintendent Amii Thompson, showing revenues at $70,880,424 and expenditures at $70,502,158. Knight also noted an 8.5% increase for utilities and a 44% rise in insurance premiums. Director of Facilities Dane Fenwick recommended approving Change Order No. 001 for the District-wide LED Retrofit, totaling $27,338.07. Associate Superintendent Kristen Haizlip presented the second reading of the 2026-2027 Student Fee Schedule, including a $10 instrumental music fee at Sakai Intermediate School and Woodward Middle School. Updates on 2026 Capital Bond and Levy Planning were also heard.
