John Mauro Urges SR 305 Roundabout Delay

Bainbridge Island, along with 23rd District legislators Senator Drew Hansen, Representative Greg Nance, and Representative Tarra Simmons, wrote to Governor Bob Ferguson on October 30, 2026. They requested a delay for the proposed SR 305/High School Road roundabout in the state's 2027-29 transportation budget, citing islander concerns about ferry traffic backups. The delay would allow for further analysis of ferry queueing, safety data, and smaller-scale improvements. City Manager John Mauro said, Traffic safety remains a priority, but solutions must reflect the unique transportation challenges of our island community. We appreciate the many islanders who have shared their concerns and our state legislators for working alongside us to advocate for thoughtful, responsible transportation investments.
