Hansen, Nance, Simmons Urge Roundabout Delay
The City of Bainbridge Island and 23rd District legislators, Senator Drew Hansen, Representative Greg Nance, and Representative Tarra Simmons, requested a delay of the proposed SR 305/High School Road roundabout in a letter to Governor Bob Ferguson on October 30, 2026, citing islander concerns about potential ferry traffic backups. The letter seeks a project pause for analysis of ferry queueing, updated safety data, and smaller improvements. City Manager John Mauro said, Traffic safety remains a priority, but solutions must reflect the unique transportation challenges of our island community. We appreciate the many islanders who have shared their concerns and our state legislators for working alongside us to advocate for thoughtful, responsible transportation investments.
