Board Approves LED Retrofit Change, Reviews Budget

On Tuesday, July 30, the Bainbridge Island School District board approved a $27,338.07 change order for the District-wide LED Retrofit Project, Bid Package 1, as recommended by Dane Fenwick. This change, bringing the revised contract to $421,246.07, includes alternative lamp types for Ordway Elementary and 43 two-lamp fixtures for Woodward Middle School. CFO Kim Knight presented the preliminary 2026-2027 budget, showing revenues at $70,880,424 and expenditures at $70,502,158, with utilities budgeted for a minimum 8.5% increase and insurance premiums up 44%. The board also approved the 2026-2027 Student Fee Schedule, which includes a $10 fee for instrumental music at Sakai Intermediate School and Woodward Middle School.
