BISD Preliminary Budget Tops $70M for 2026-27

At its July 30 meeting, the Bainbridge Island School District board addressed the preliminary 2026-2027 budget. Chief Financial Officer Kim Knight presented the budget reports to Superintendent Amii Thompson, outlining projected revenues and expenditures for the fiscal year.

Revenues for 2026-2027 are budgeted at $70,880,424, with expenditures set at $70,502,158. The budget includes the full levy amount and anticipates a 20 percent increase in local food service revenues. Title I, II, and IV funds have been applied to staffing, and $500,000 in capacity is budgeted in state grants. Knight noted that utilities were budgeted for a minimum 8.5 percent increase, with electricity projected for a 30 percent increase, and insurance premiums increased by 44 percent. The Special Education budget includes capacity for an additional NPA placement, and the beginning fund balance is tentatively projected at $2,780,000.
