BISD Budget Hearing: $72M Spending Plan Presented

At its August 27 meeting, CFO Kim Knight presented the Bainbridge Island School District's 2026-2027 budget, projecting $72,411,116 in revenues and $71,993,488 in expenditures. The budget includes utilities rising at least 8.5% (electricity 30%) and a 44% increase in insurance premiums. Superintendent Amii Thompson and Director of Facilities, Operations, and Capital Projects Dane Fenwick updated the board on 2026 Capital Bond and Levy Planning. Mr. Fenwick also sought approval for Change Order No. 002 for the District-Wide LED Retrofit Project Bid Package I. Director of Instructional Technology Whitney Skarbek shared, "It is always a team effort to ensure our schools are ready for students the first day!".
