BISCC Redevelopment Design Advances

On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, City Council approved the 90% design for the Bainbridge Island Senior/Community Center Redevelopment Project and selected Carley Construction as contractor. This Consent Agenda item was reviewed at the May 19, 2026, study session (via CivicClerk).

Other Consent Agenda items included authorizing the Interim City Manager to accept the Woodward Middle School 120kW PV System Project. The solar photovoltaic system and its maintenance will transfer to BISD (via CivicClerk). Council also authorized a $200,000 purchase order for a Public Works office trailer and approved a related $80,000 budget adjustment. Bids for the Pleasant Beach Drive Extension Project were authorized, along with a $98,259.92 purchase agreement for three Suzuki Outboard Engines and installation on the Police Boat (via CivicClerk). Revisions to the Introduction, Cultural, Human Services, Environmental, and Economic Elements of the Comprehensive Plan were also approved (via CivicClerk).

Council heard proclamations for Juneteenth and LGBTQI+ Month. "Storybook Ending" by Moira McDonald was announced as the Bainbridge Island Reads book for Summer and Fall 2026 (via CivicClerk). Councilmember Ashley Mathews requested a presentation from Kitsap Public Health District on Kratom for a future Council meeting (via CivicClerk).

On Thursday, June 11, 2026, the Planning Commission recommended approval to the Planning Director for the Wing Point Golf and Country Club Pro Shop project Site Plan and Design Review and Minor Conditional application (file number PLN52754 SPR CUP). The project at 811 Cherry Avenue NE includes a new 4,000 square foot pro shop, demolition of two storage buildings, a new trash enclosure, a 1,000 square foot canopy at the driving range, reconfigured parking for a net gain of six spaces (including two EVSE spaces), a new stormwater detention pond, and a new five-foot sidewalk along Cherry Avenue (via CivicClerk).
